Inter School Quiz Competition

The Inter School Quiz Competition organized by the Goethe-Institut Sri Lanka was held on December 05, 2014 at the Goethe Institute and 10 leading schools in Colombo took part in it. 

Nalanda College and Anada College were emerged 1st and 2nd runner up respectively and students of Musaeus College were the Champions!

Nikolaus day at Goethe Institut

In Germany 6 December is an important day for children. The German Santa Claus comes a few weeks earlier than the usual Santa.

Goethe-Institut celebrated Nikolaus Day on 6th December from 2pm- 6pm, and it was basically for children between the ages 8 to 16 years.

The event revolved around German culture, language, food, music, art, games and much more with illustration contests, exhibitions and food stalls. 

Prizes, surprises, sweet treats and entertainment filled the even with joy and enthusiasm. 150 free tickets including a free beverage and snack was given.

7 girls of Musaeus College volunteered at the event and many from our school participated at the event

German Unity Day Celebrations

German Unity Day as well as the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall was celebrated by German missions worldwide. The German Embassy in Colombo is marked these special events with a concert by renowned German classical quartet Salut Salon on 2 October, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at the British School Auditorium. A few Musaeites stood the chance of witnessing this unique and wonderful performances by the quartet comprising Angelika Bachman (Violin), Iris Siegfried (Viola), Friederike Dany (Cello) and Olga Shkrygunova (Piano) who won acclaim for their unique fusion of classics.

On 27 September, 2014 as part of the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall a wall painting workshop was being organised by the German Embassy of Colombo.The participants were students from PASCH schools; Royal College, Musaeus College and Jennings International College, as well as Embassy staff and their families.

The workshop was facilitated by street artist P413. The painted wall was displayed at the Unity Day celebrations and at a special event to commemorate the fall of the Wall on 9 November.

Threshold of the restaurant

According to a suggestion of a young member of Ms. Udai's class a dinner outing was organised which eventually took place on 7th April 2014. The venue decided was "The Bavarian restaurant" as I mentioned in my previous post. The members and the 3 teachers in-charge and myself arrived at the premises at around 6.30 pm. Although it was scheduled to be over by 8.30pm, due to the unexpected participation of 26, the dinner went til 9.30pm. This was not merely a get-together but this also improved the vocabulary related with Dining and the interactive games such as "koffer packen" which was modified suiting the restaurant atmosphere, kept the members occupied until they got their meals..and the members made new friendships by getting to know each other as they were from different classes and this was also a good exposure for the young learners who were new to the language and also to be familiar with the cultures.
