"....It was an exciting day for all nine of us! On the 7th midnight, a slight excitement retained with us, as we took our luggages' and travelers passport and proceeded to the waiting area about to bid farewell to Sri Lanka .

As soon as we arrived at the Frankfurt airport we were taken to the buses by the Goethe crew and we finally arrived at Hinterzarten.

We enjoyed the freshness of the serene atmosphere of Hinterzarten the fresh air... the greeny meadows.. the thick black forest that bordered Birklehof... they were extremely beautiful and captivating ..

Once we even had a campfire.. it was wonderful to sing to the melodies of the guitar played by Nico in the moonlight and of course with some grillings..  We could still remember the hiking in Schwarzwald (Blackforest).. it was spooky.. we were told to switch off the torches.. and it was eerie with ominous tones of the nocturnal creatures..

The International-Evening (Internationallerabend) was certainly a wonderful evening where the diverse nationalities fused their cultures by sharing unique performances..

Internationalleabend
We had quite a comfortable stay at Birklehof..we had our breakfast at 8 in the morning at Saalbau..the typical breakfast was müsli or bread with cheese and ham. From 9am we have lessons till 12 noon and in between we had a coffee break .. The lunch as in a stereotypical German-lunch is warm and contained fried potatoes with fish, chicken or vegetables..

The coffee break at 4 evening usually served raspberry juice with a delicacy, often cake......There were a plethora of activities in the evening..choir, campfire, mask making, building clay models/ friendship band, hiking, football, basketball, cycling etc.In the Spielplatz we could spend our evenings in the tree-house or in the hammocks.

Flirtdisco
In Afasta we could play billiard or table-football or play card-games.. and it was quite wonderful to move with different nationalities..
We felt very intimate despite of different cultures..
We could access internet at the Alte Turnhalle.. In the musikhaus we can play the piano, sing in the choir..
The Flirt disco and Bad-Taste disco on Saturday-nights were truly fantastic..
The classrooms are very comfortable with a wonderful glimpse of view of the meadows. even the teachers were quite friendly and kind...

The Kochabend  was absolutely succulent with a variety of american, and Chinese dishes were shared..

A couple oPoliticians namely Frau Rita Schwarzlühr- Sutter and Herr Thomas Doerflinger who arrived amidst last week gave an idea of administration and politics in Germany.

The exams which were subsequently held were not much tense with the wonderful times at Birklehof!

The final day (Abschlussabend) of the youth camp was indeed a sorrowful departure where all of them embraced each other with grief

We enjoyed the stay very much and this happens to be the most wonderful 3 weeks of our lives.. We are quite thankful for the german government and the goethe institute for granting us this wonderful experience!.."
